Years ago a man, fond of travel and adventure roamed through our area with apparently no special purpose in mind.
He could be seen following the course of the river standing on an elevated spot admiring the scenery. Tradition has it that this man was of noble birth and hailed from Scotland. His name was Charles F. Ayton, and before leaving named the village of ours “Ayton.”
